The virtue in reading

Back in my school days the subjects of History and Literature were one of the most hated subjects, it was so hated that they dread about attending the lessons (omg, like a prison!).

Look familar? Oh yes, that was our old school History textbook. One of my classmates' most 'Hated' subjects. LOL.

Throughout our life, we are bound to meet people who says that they hate ‘reading’. The reasons are varied, some says it is boring, useless things or simply no time for it. Perhaps unconsciously, those ‘haters’ did not realize that they are just not reading the stuffs they want. Throw them a book how to ‘How to strike Singapore Toto Lottery’, you will get some of the most unlikely group of people reading through the pages without falling asleep. LOL.

While my classmates threw their old History textbooks into the dustbins, i ended up reading even more and felt not ENOUGH! I need more information! OMG!

So, what is virtue in reading? Well, it can be summarized in one thing ‘information’. There would be times when people will want to read to find the information they want, be it through the internet, newspaper, magazine etc. Whether a person likes reading or not, they still would want to read the stuffs they are interested to know. And we will never know, when the time comes for a revelation, it can change our life.

What may have happen if i have read this type of book instead when i was younger. Hmm, life could have been much more different.

My life was changed when I was first introduced to that famous book ‘Rich Dad and Poor Dad’. I had spent 10 years searching for an answer but found nothing from others, turns out that the answers I was looking for were in that book. What if I had read it 5 or 6 years earlier? Would my life have been much more different? Well, that is pretty hard to say. Still. Better late than never isn’t it.

So, no need to be ‘Pai Sei’ (embarrassed) to pick up a book just for a few read or ‘Pang Tang’ (Superstitions) about touching a book (In Chinese pronunciation ‘ ‘it sounds almost similar as ‘’ ‘lose’, a bad thing for gambler). After all, I did pick up and read a book that changed my life. Who knows, you might be the next one.

How this blog started

It started with a passion in writing. Back in the 1980s, there was no platform for me to develop my writing skill. It was not the age of computer; information was obtained mainly through the newspapers, magazines and media news. If I wished to research anything, the only place I could go was the library. I read a lot of books in my younger days, even reference books which I should not be reading at my age. While my classmates threw their local History textbooks into the dustbin, I went studied the World History at the library.  Purely for interest.

I actually wrote my first book on my own when I was only 12 years old, through the hours and days and weeks of typing it out manually on a traditional typewriter. Naturally, it contains tons of Grammars mistake. Language was not my strong area, but that did not stop me from writing.

As I grew older, the burdens of life weighed upon me more and more heavily, I found solace in writing. It did actually help relieved my troubled mind and saved me from sliding into depression. With the advance of technology, many things which had been impossible become possible for me. Whenever an inspiration comes, I would embark on writing my inspiration and turned it into a story created purely from the seeds of imaginations. I am however more of a creative writer, and could spend the hours imagining about the story development. That sort of got me into troubles sometime when people around me caught me day dreaming. Ops!

The idea of a blog did  not occur to me until I am in my 40s, when I achieved my first level of financial independence. It was like now that I had achieved my long-cherished goal, I can pursue my passion, but where to start? Through this blog, I wish to share my life experience and what I have learn with the people around the world who are still searching for an answer.

So, here it is, the beginning of a new journey. 😊

The First Journey

The First Little Thing.
Nothing dramatic.
So. Let’s begins with a teddy bear :).
Taken in 2009, this bear embarked on its first journey oversea with me to Europe.
Poor bear.

This oversea trip was special. It was paid by my first passive income.😃
